Children's Bedroom Furniture; Create An Image Of Your Child's Personality

By: Jeffrey Bruce

You can find Children's bedroom furniture in just about any store that will please the senses and make you smile. In the past furniture was passed down from generation to generation but furniture tended to be a little boring. Those big bulky bunk beds are no more as today they are made of steel and come in interesting colors and shapes. It's hard to find a kid that has a regular mattress and headboard anymore. Beds look like many different things like fire engines, castles, nests and other things.

Cribs do not have to just be cribs anymore and transform into beds. This furniture will work for several years and your child will not grow out of it until high school. Traditional beds can still be found with wooden headboards that are sometimes painted with interesting murals. These pieces can follow your child into adulthood if you like.

Many girls love canopy beds and they can still be found in stores that sell furniture. They tend to be a bit expensive so someone came up with the great idea to make just a fabric canopy that can be connected to the ceiling with flowing fabric that encircles the bed.

There are beds for little kids that are made out of plastic. They look like drag racers or fairy castles. These beds are small and only suitable for a preschooler and if your child is tall do not even consider this type of bed. One thing that is good about plastic beds is that they lie close to the ground. If your child rolls over it is not very likely they will hurt themselves. These beds cost a great deal of money and only last a few years.

It might be better to purchase a regular bed and use the bedding to create the interest. You can get such beautiful and interesting bedding that will fall into the theme of race car or princess that will not cost near as much as a bed. Bedding comes in many different themes including those popular cartoon characters the kids love or you can find bedding in anything the child is drawn to from fairies to fire engines or police cars.

Not only are the beds more imaginative but the rest of the furnishings in the room are more kid friendly. There are baskets that come in multitudes of colors to hold clothing or toys and some slide into carts that can be moved from here to there. Furry storage cubes can hold games and small toys and then the child can use them as a chair as well.

Today kids need a desk to hold their homework and their own personal computers. You can buy plastic desks in interesting colors or just paint an old wooden one and computer desks come kid sized and are easy to assemble. File cabinets come in pretty or primary colors and even camouflage. If you can not find some you like just spray paint them in the color you desire.

Bookshelves are a must in a child's room. Every kid should have bunches of books to read and you can get inexpensive bookshelves at discount stores, or you can get nice ones that will follow your child into adulthood. Also available are wooden cubes made of particle board that can be painted in bright colors or the color of you little one's favorite sports team.

Children's bedroom furniture can reflect your child's personality or personify a favorite fictional character, or exemplify their favorite people, places or things. Kid's rooms are a haven for both sleep and play and should have furnishings that will be both comfortable and utilitarian. It is not hard to find the perfect furniture for your child at any furniture, department or discount store.
