Learning Games Combine Education and Play!

By: Fabian Toulouse..

Remember back to when you were a youngster and were given your least favorite chore. It might have been piling up the leaves, dusting, or washing the dishes after the big family dinner. You whined and complained, and when you did, your parents might have told you, "Figure out a way to make a game of it, and it'll go much faster." And they were a hundred percent correct.

Play, planned or impromptu, makes just about everything more fun, and if it can make chores tolerable, then it certainly has a place in education. Learning games take this constructive combination of education and play to a new level.

Learning games cover an enormous range of subjects including reading, math, science, languages, art and music. Furthermore, subjects are broken up into multiple age groups, so that you have a superior chance of picking the game that most aptly suits your child. Learning games can be used on home computers or on your DVD system, offering multiple choices on where you set up your student's learning environment.

Probably the most comforting part of the learning games is that the educational and entertainment elements are equally central. From the ground up, experts in media and education work intimately together so that the games are really fun while at the same time able to open up different worlds of learning for your child, establishing a desire for learning more and instilling confidence in students of all ages.

If you think back to your days as a student, at every level, the classes you enjoyed, the teachers that you remember fondly all brought a large amount of energy and playfulness to the subject matter that made the day pass promptly and left you ready for the next journey. Learning games represent the intersection between interaction and pleasure.
