No more Panic Attacks During Pregnancy

By: Millicent Feraux

When women are pregnant, they often find themselves not only dealing with their pregnancy but also with anxiety and panic. There is a reason for this happening.

While pregnant, the woman's body is full of hormones in overdrive. Sometimes the changes in hormones trigger the anxiety and panic attacks to occur. Remember every part of the mother's body is affected by pregnancy.

Pregnancy can be an extremely stressful time for some women and of course, some women feel worried about what can happen to them during the pregnancy. This can lead to anxiety and panic attacks.

Pregnancy is one of the most important events in anyone's life. Most women feel very nervous about giving birth. It is not uncommon for a woman to have worries about both the process of birth and about her motherhood skills once the baby is born. These feelings can easily develop into anxiety or panic attacks.

Anxiety and panic attacks are more common in the last months of pregnancy. Some women find however that if they had attacks before pregnancy that they lessen while they are pregnant. No one knows why this occurs. They think it is due to the fluctuating hormones.

If you find you are one of the women to have anxiety and panic attacks while pregnant there are things you can do to help stop them from happening. Medications can be harmful to your developing baby. One of these natural methods of treatment will be more suited for you.

* Relaxation- whenever you feel yourself getting stressed or anxious take time to relax. Find somewhere quiet and cool to lie down and just relax. Do not spend this time worrying or feeling anxious. Just allow yourself to think of something or somewhere calm and enjoyable to you.

* Share your problem - pregnancy is not something you have to do alone. Talk about your feelings with your partner, family or friends. All new mothers feel anxious and scared at some point and you are not unusual in this. Remember too that there are many professional counselling and therapy services available for people exactly like you.

* Deep breathing- using deep breathing techniques can help you to let go of the stress and anxiety you may be feeling. Lie down and take several deep breaths through your nose. Blow them out through your mouth. Do this until you feel the attack going away.

If you suffer repeated panic or anxiety attacks it is important that you seek aid. You are not the first person to be in this position and there are many services standing by to help you promote the health of yourself and your baby.

Men can have anxiety and panic attacks during your pregnancy too. They are about to become a father and that can be scary to them. They may be worried how they will be able to afford a new baby. They may have worries about taking care of the baby.

Men are notorious for not admitting when they are bothered about anything. And it is these un-admitted fears that can lead to anxiety and panic.

If you notice your partner seems more stressed than usual it might be a good idea to talk to them about it. Pregnancy should be an enjoyable time. If you find yourself worrying or anxious, seek treatment.
