Smart Things to Say to Your Kids

By: Marty Lee Parker

Everything that you have achieved up to this point in your life, you owe to the little voices in your head. Your personality is built from certain mantras, quotes and philosophies that you have gained throughout your life. You use them to make smart and wise decisions in your life. Actually recalling what these little voices say so that you can pass them on to your children can be tricky.

Just realizing that you have smart things to say to your kids does help them out any. You need to actually communicate your wisdom with them. To do this, set up a specific time every day that you can share your knowledge with your children.

An ideal time to share your words of wisdom with your children is when they are gathered around the table for mealtime. After asking the clich question of, "Did you learn anything at school today?" you can share with your family words of wisdom. The children are busy eating, they cannot go anywhere and there is actually time for what you say to sink in.

Coming up with words of wisdom can be tricky, but now that you have the time set that you are going to deliver your knowledge to your children, you have a deadline to meet each day. It is this goal of sharing your knowledge with your kids that will make you come up with some surprisingly great little tid-bits that have helped you out in life.

Here are some examples of words of wisdom to share with your kids:

- Imagine the person you are about ready to saying something negative about is standing right beside you.

- With the advancement in crime scene investigation it is guaranteed that you will be put in prison if you commit a crime.

- Failure is your friend as long as you learn from it.

Giving a quick burst of wisdom sometimes works best. It doesn't have to be lengthy or have to have a hearty explanation. You said the wisdom, that is what is the important part.

Here is one little tid-bit of wisdom that you can share with your children that will help them become in high demand when they start to enter the work force and is a secret that will get them multitudes of repeat business.

ALWAYS GIVE THEM AN "ALSO"

This is one of the best forms of free advertising ever. Whatever job, task or project your children are doing for someone, tell them to always throw in an "ALSO". If they are babysitting, tell them to not only watch the kids for three hours but also do the dishes and tidy the kitchen. If they are mowing a lawn, tell them to not only cut the grass, but to clean off the mower, straighten the yard and sweep off the porch when they are done. If they are racking leaves, tell them to not only rack leaves but also bag them and put them where they belong.
